Today was a poignant day for me. I met with ten students embarking on their new journey, and five who were wrapping up theirs. It was a bittersweet moment, filled with nostalgia and pride. I couldn’t help but reflect on the day eight months ago when I first met those five students. I remember their nervousness, doubt, and the feeling of “What have I gotten myself into?”

I told them then to trust the process, follow the instructions, and just show up. It’s a simple formula, yet one that can be life-changing. Today, seeing their growth, I felt an overwhelming sense of pride knowing I played a part in their journey.

I think of Robin, who impacted me at 18. Her guidance and belief in me shaped who I am today. I’m passionate about empowering, edifying, and educating others—it’s more than just a job; it’s a calling. When I met my pastor, my spiritual hero, years ago, I was in a very different place. I remember her vibrant spirit and how she embraced me, flaws and all.

We all have our “before” stories. I look at where I started and where I am now—a polished diamond, forged from the rough. This transformation isn’t just about me; it’s about the community around us. My church family, my friends like Li’Kera and Julie, and my numerous godkids, nieces, and nephews—they all inspire me to keep pushing forward.

As I welcome new faces into our community, I am filled with excitement for their potential. I believe in the power of connection and the ripple effect of encouragement. Each person we touch can spark a change in someone else, creating a chain of positivity.

I’m grateful for those who have stood by me, believed in me, and celebrated my journey. It reminds me that it only gets better from here.
